ABBEY FARM COTTAGES – SELF-CATERING HOLIDAYS ON THE NORTH NORFOLK COAST
Abbey Farmhouse and its three holiday cottages are situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Conservation Area
between the main coast road and beach in the small village of Beeston Regis on the North Norfolk coast.
The cottages are found 150m down a gravel drive, each in their own private grounds – hidden away in an oasis of tranquility.
The cottages stand in an unrivalled and unique location within the extensive and compelling 6-acre grounds of the Grade II listed Abbey Farmhouse, parts of which date back to the 15th century. No longer a working farm, the converted farm buildings were beautifully updated in 2012 to offer luxurious self-catering accommodation.
The grounds are spectacular. From the super expanses of lawn gardens to the area of bog garden with stream and bridges over, to the enchanting Cloisters walled garden and beyond, there is such space, diversity and
privacy. The unique microclimate we enjoy here, in the lea of Beeston Bump, allows the growth of many unusual exotic plants, shrubs and trees and we are happy for you to explore.
The large pond, once the stew pond to the Priory, is visited by a host of wild birds
including herons, kingfishers, moorhens, ducks and even a hungry cormorant, eager to take his fill of the varied choice of fish such as rudd, roach, chub, tench and carp. Bring a fishing rod and take up position on the decked area overlooking the pond – you may even land one of the ancient eels!
Abbey Farm cottages are adjacent to the Grade I listed ruins of the 13th century Augustinian Priory (a heritage site) with Beeston Bump (a cliff-top hill) and the North Norfolk Coastal Path a further 200m to the north. To the south, just 250m away, is Beeston
Common, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, where the varied habitats hold a rich biodiversity of flora and fauna.
A mile to the west is Sheringham – one of Norfolk’s most charming and pretty coastal towns with its
award-winning beach, steam railway, Little Theatre, Crab and Lobster Festival, 1940’s weekend, COAST Arts Festival and the National Trust Sheringham Park.
North Norfolk offers breath-taking scenery, safe sandy swimming beaches, family attractions, historic houses and gardens, heritage railways, nature reserves, diverse geology, quaint seaside towns and villages, and the choice of numerous activities including golf, fishing, cycling, bird-watching, walking and water sports.
With its historical walled “back garden” providing a stunning backdrop and the calm, uncluttered warmth of the converted farm building, the charming Abbey Cottage offers a perfect year-round escape.
The two-bedroomed cottage offers pleasant, clean and comfortable single-storey accommodation with its own parking area in a south-facing courtyard.
Priory Cottage, originally part of the historic Abbey Farm’s stable complex and fully refurbished in 2013, is a
well-appointed retreat – close enough to the town’s facilities and beaches, secluded enough for peace and privacy.
The welcoming three-bedroomed cottage offers bright, fresh and comfortable single-storey accommodation with its own parking area, enough room for up to three vehicles.
Granary Cottage, originally the farm’s granary, was completely refurbished in 2014.This historical cottage, two-storeyed with three bedrooms, offers immaculate, stylish and easeful accommodation with its owngarden and parking area.
